Fire Shutters

AMO Fire, a division of AMO Security have been installing all types of Certified Fire Shutters throughout the UK since 1989.

Fire Shutters are becoming more familiar in the UK due to increased fire protection required from building control departments. Fire Shutters can be found installed in Church Halls, School Kitchens as well as some of the country’s largest distribution centres and warehouses.

The Fire Shutters have been tested at Exova Warrington Fire under BS EN 1634-1:2008 test conditions and are also assessed to BS EN 476-22:1987.

Fire Shutters are designed to automatically descend should they receive a signal in the event of a fire, the signal can be received from a central fire alarm system or sometimes locally by means of a fusible link. The benefit of a Fire Shutter is that it can also be used on a day to day basis as a standard Roller Shutter to provide added security.

Audio Visual panels can be installed to our Fire Shutters, this enables the shutter to be programmed with a staged descent to enable the Fire Shutter to act as a smoke barrier whilst people escape and then lower to act as the fire barrier after a pre-determined amount of time. An audio alarm can also be used to warn that the Fire Shutter has been activated and it will begin to operate.

Ratings of 1 Hour, 2 Hours or 4 Hours can be utilised depending on requirements and the Fire Shutters can be installed up to a size of 50m2.

Galvanised Steel Curtains, Guide Channels and Boxes are supplied as standard, however the Fire Shutters can be colour coordinated to its surroundings by applying a polyester powder coated finish to the roller shutter, most colour are available from the RAL or BS4800 colour charts. A plastisol steel curtain is also available to complement the steel cladding used on the external facades of modern industrial buildings and factories.

There are two electrical methods of operating our Fire Shutters, the first option is by means of a 240v tube motor, these are best suited for smaller installations on counters and serving areas where aesthetics are paramount. The second option is by a Single Phase or 3 Phase chain operated motor, this type of operator is more commonly used on larger Fire Shutters install in distribution centres and warehouses.

Whatever your requirements are for Fire Shutters, AMO Security will have a solution.
